Terms of Service

The agreement between Touchline and every family that trains with us.

Effective August 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Marcos Matthews, doing business as Touchline, a sole proprietorship based in Simi Valley, California. You accept these terms by creating an account or requesting a session. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of every player you register. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

2. The service

Touchline provides private and small-group soccer training for youth players aged 10 and up, coached by Marcos Matthews. Sessions are held at the locations Coach Marcos publishes in the app; the exact location is confirmed in each booking. The Touchline app lets you request and manage sessions, keep a card on file, and receive confirmations and reminders. Touchline is an independent business and is not affiliated with any league, club, school, or with any park district.

3. Accounts & guardians

Accounts are held by parents and legal guardians, never by players. You are responsible for activity under your account, including activity by co-parents, grandparents, or caregivers you share access with. You agree to keep your contact information current and to provide accurate player information, including each player's real name and date of birth — the service enforces a minimum player age of 10, and accurate dates of birth are how we honor it. Touchline may suspend an account that provides false information, after refunding any unused balance.

4. Payment & billing

You are never charged to request or book a session. Each session is billed individually, only after it happens: the price is deducted from any credit on your account first, then charged to the card you have on file; if no card is on file, we email a secure payment link after the session. Payments are processed by Stripe; Touchline never sees or stores your full card number. If a card charge is declined, we retry automatically and email you; an unpaid session that stays unpaid past its grace period pauses new bookings until it is settled — sessions you already have on the books are never affected. Coach Marcos can waive a charge (no fee, ever) or reverse a completed charge, which is the only refund path.

5. Booking & approval

Every session starts as a request. A request costs nothing and holds the time while Coach Marcos reviews it; it becomes a confirmed booking when he approves it. Nothing is ever charged for a request — payment happens only after a booked session is actually played. If a request is declined or expires unanswered, the hold is released and nothing is charged. Session times are shown in Pacific time (America/Los_Angeles).

6. Changes, cancellations & refunds

You may reschedule or cancel any booked session until the cutoff shown in the app before its start time (12 hours by default). Cancelling before the cutoff is free — nothing was ever charged for a session that doesn't happen, so there's nothing to refund. Inside the cutoff window, changes are at the coach's discretion; text Marcos directly, because genuine emergencies are always worked out. If Marcos cancels a session for any reason — rain, field closure, illness — it is voided and nothing is ever charged, regardless of timing.

7. No-shows

If a player does not arrive within 15 minutes of the session start time and you have not contacted Marcos, the session counts as delivered and is billed like any other completed session — through the same after-the-fact charge described in section 4. The session plan was prepared and the field time was reserved either way. This policy exists to protect every family's access to limited field time; it is applied with common sense, not as a trap.

8. Group sessions

Small-group sessions are booked per seat: each family requests, holds, and pays for its own player's seat independently. One family's cancellation or no-show does not affect another family's seat, and each family is billed only for its own seat, only after the session happens. The change, cancellation, and no-show rules in sections 6 and 7 apply to each seat independently. If Marcos cancels a group session, every family's seat is voided and nothing is charged.

9. Waiver, safety & photos

Before a player's first session, a parent or legal guardian must sign Touchline's liability waiver and release, which includes an assumption of risk, a release of liability to the extent permitted by California law, and an authorization for emergency medical care. The waiver is presented and signed in the app during onboarding and stays on file. Providing an emergency contact for each player is required. Photo and media consent is separate and entirely optional — declining it never affects a player's sessions.

10. Acceptable use

You agree to use the service honestly: provide accurate information, book sessions only for registered players, and treat other families, players, and park visitors with respect at sessions. You agree not to interfere with the app's operation, attempt to access other families' data, or use the service for any unlawful purpose. Touchline may suspend or close accounts that violate these rules; any balance owed for sessions already played remains due, and any credit on the account is refunded when it is closed.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Touchline's total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amounts you paid to Touchline in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and Touchline is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Claims relating to on-field injury are governed by the signed liability waiver. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under California law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud, and nothing limits rights you hold as a consumer that cannot be waived.

12. Changes to these terms

Touchline may update these terms from time to time. Updates are posted on this page with a new effective date, and material changes are announced by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you may close your account at any time; you are never charged in advance, so nothing needs to be refunded.

13. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ventura County, California, and both parties consent to that venue. Touchline is operated by Marcos Matthews, Simi Valley, California. Questions, refund requests, and notices: marcosmvm1515@gmail.com.
